Introducing the Rooted and Rising Campaign Video

We are excited to share the official Rooted and Rising Campaign Video — a powerful presentation that captures the heart and vision of our historic project at St. Joseph's Church.

Watch it now to see why this campaign is so important for the future of traditional Catholicism in Southeast Michigan.

Rooted in Tradition Since 1973

St. Joseph's Church was established in 1973 when Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre chose Armada as the home for the first SSPX chapel in the United States. Dedicated families built the church with their own hands, creating a strong foundation for the Traditional Latin Mass and authentic Catholic formation.

For over five decades, this community has grown into a thriving center of faith, including a priory and academy. The Rooted and Rising campaign honors that rich legacy while addressing the urgent needs of today.

Why We Must Rise Now

Our current facilities in Ray Township have become too small. Sunday Masses are regularly at capacity, the academy is at full enrollment with combined-grade classrooms, and the landlocked 7-acre site prevents necessary expansion. The Rooted and Rising Campaign Video clearly explains these challenges and the inspiring solution ahead.

Thanks to God’s providence and the support of SSPX superiors in Menzingen and Platte City, we have purchased 22.3 acres of land in Armada — completely debt-free. This new location will allow us to:

  • Construct a larger, reverent church worthy of the Traditional Latin Mass

  • Expand our academy with proper classrooms and facilities

  • Build a unified campus where church and school support one another

  • Create a lasting home for families seeking the fullness of the Faith

A Thoughtful Three-Phase Plan

The Rooted and Rising Campaign Video walks through our clear, phased approach:

Phase 1: Laying the Foundation This urgent and practical first step allows us to move forward immediately on our 22.3-acre property: a new school building designed to accommodate 200+ K-12 students and a field house that will serve as a temporary sanctuary for the Traditional Latin Mass. Phase 2: Building the Heart of the Campus This phase is the exciting leap forward — the moment our vision truly becomes a permanent spiritual home by building a majestic new church with seating for approximately 500, designed to honor St. Joseph and worthy of the beauty and reverence of the Traditional Latin Mass. Phase 3: Completing the Vision This phase brings our long-term vision to full maturity — the final, joyful stage where the campus becomes a thriving, self-sustaining home for Tradition with a dedicated teacher residence specifically intended as a home for teaching sisters, providing stable on-site housing and strengthening the spiritual and academic formation of our students. We anticipate needing an additional wing to expand the academy as enrollment continues to grow.

Every step is designed to begin serving souls on the new campus as quickly as possible.
